Jasper Leyland is the alias of sound-explorer Jonathan Brewster, who currently resides in York (U.K.). Using collected and gathered incidental aural flotsam and ephemera he extracts fragments of sound, before applying restrained digital processing and collaging into organic pieces. December 2010: Jasper Leyland will be playing at the ‘Strange Vibrations’ evening of electronic and experimental music in the Rymer Auditorium of the Univerity of York on December 1st. Also playing are, Tom Mudd, Oli Larkin and Pouya Ehsaei.

October 2010: A compilation produced by the Canadian label 'Duck Bay', featuring the new Jasper Leyland track 'the high boundary', has just been made available to the world. Curated by Jordan Sauer the project, 'sing', brings together various artists spanning the globe, "all bringing their unique variation of ambient electronic music", including Chihei Hatekayama and Ian Hawgood. Limited to 100 copies, the release is packaged in glorious handmade cardboard sleeve with antique wood and metal type print. It is available from Smallfish in the (U.K.) and Experimedia (U.S.).

March 2009 : Jasper Leyland’s fourth album, ‘Sediments’ will be released in March on the and/OAR sister label MOAR, as a free download. More info at the MOAR label website. March will also see the release of a remix compilation, ‘The Nights Keep Coming In’, featuring a Jasper Leyland re-working of the track ‘Hands swollen with grace’, from the recent collaborative album by the Dakota Suite and the cellist David Darling. Other artists contributing remixes to the project include Arve Henriksen, Tape, Loscil and Machinefabriek. The compilation will be released as a CD, limited to 300 copies, as well as a download available from Boomkat and similar outlets. More info at the releases page on the Dakota Suite website.

June 2008 : Jasper Leyland will be performing live at the Laban dance centre in London on Thursday 3rd July, alongside Alexander Wendt, Janek Schaefer and Douglas Benford. The event is entitled '108 Pieces Demolition' and is based around a multi-channel sound installation, building site and live performance set up by Alexander Wendt, investigating concepts of demolition and construction. March 2008 : A new Jasper Leyland track entitled 'Worth Ash' appears on the new 'Little Things' compilation from the Tokyo based label Flau. The compilation is themed around small, everyday acoustics and the vivid moments of spring, and will also feature unreleased tracks by Hood, F.S. Blumm, Cokiyu, and The Boats, amongst many others.

February 2008 : The third Jasper Leyland album 'Wake' is out now on 12x50, the fifth volume in their 'Carbon' series. You can download a full track from it ('Taken') in the MP3s section, and the CD is available now from the shop page priced £8, including postage to anywhere in the world. This release was album of the week at Boomkat, and you can read their review (and others) in the press section.

November 2007 : 'Fieldstone' has now sold out, both from here and Benbecula. The only place worldwide you can still get this is Duotone in Japan, who still have a (very) few copies left. So if you want to get hold of this record then it may be worth contacting them.
